My Journey Making Money With Music

We have all been there...


Boxes of merch piling up in the spare room, too many CD's going to waste.


You have just spent money on merch designs, hundreds of dollars to print the shirts, thousands to record an album and then to print CD's only to see them never sell. 


You sit there running your band at a loss only to end up folding or breaking up years later with no ideas on what to do with all the left over merch.


No one wins...


This story isn't an uncommon one.


It has happened to me many a time when I first started out with my music and playing in bands. 


I still to this day have boxes of CD's and merch sitting in my spare room at home collecting dust never to see the light of day again.


My spare room to this day...


All of this got me thinking a few years ago..


There has to be a much more efficient way to go about it all.


There has to be a profitable way to sell band merch and CD's without spending so much cash up front. Only to be left chasing the costs.


After trying out different options with bandcamp, putting merch on big cartel and trying to sell with facebook I was still stuck in a similar position.


I still had merch left over, I still ran at a loss, I still had to go to the post office every week to mail out orders and It didn't seem worth it.


Playing in a band takes enough time as it is with rehearsing every week, gigging and even touring. I didn't want to spend the rest of my time trying to sell merch especially because I had a full time job also.


I wanted something that was an efficient use of my time and also made myself money from my music.


Then It hit me!


E-Commerce!


E-commerce was still a little known way to run a business and with dirty words like dropshipping, ebay and cryptocurrency no one really knew how to utilise it in the music industry.


After discovering on demand suppliers and trialing many print on demand services online I finally started connecting the dots.


I started profiting because I wasn't printing bulk orders of merch to sell.


Everything was printed to order when the customer bought it. Their sale even covered the printing leaving only the profit for me.


My first attempt with on demand merch with bandcamp 2016


I wasn't throwing money away on minimum orders of CD's.


People were purchasing a CD and it was getting duplicated on demand. 


From there I had cracked the secret. Testing every method I could come up with until I refined it into a fine oiled machine.


It worked!


My bands and label figures from 2018


I couldn't keep it all to myself so I set up a distribution platform for bands to join and it got real busy. Everyone was selling their merch from my site. Everyone was profiting in one way or another.


I couldn't keep up with the demand of running the website so I have decided to create this course. I want to share the same way I monetised my music with you all.


Everyone making music deserves to profit from it.
